At the very origins of the Alliance for Surgery and Anesthesia is a commitment to quality research on surgery and anesthesia care in LMICs.  Since 2008, more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts have been published by this accomplished working group, encompassing such topics as surgical and anesthesesia capacity surveys, unmet surgical need, safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, outcomes, appropriate surgical metrics, and surgical systems.

We remain committed to advancing this research agenda and strive for meaningful contributions to the literature and at international surgical forums. We are honored to have the  World Journal of Surgery publish the highlights of our annual ASAP and Biannual World Congress of Surgery meetings.
